Abstract

¡@¡@Operator space theory is a recently developed research area in modern analysis. It is a natural (noncommutative) quantization of functional analysis (or Banach space theory). The ``matrix norms'' and ``completely bounded maps'' play the vital role in operator spaces. ¡@¡@In this talk, I will first explain the philosophy and review the development of operator spaces, and then discuss some basic properties as well as some important applications to operator algebras.
