A convenient way to transfer files between different computers is ``ftp''. Below I briefly describe ``ftp'' needed for the course. My explanation is in square brackets. (a) Within GSBMBA (among users) =================== Logon to GSBMBA [Type the command] ftp gsbmba [The computer will prompt for user's name and password] [If the user and password are proper, you are in ftp] [To send a file XXXX, type the command] send XXXX [To get a file XXXX, type] get XXXX [To quit ftp, type] quit (b) Between PC and GSBMBA ============================ Logon to PC Make sure that your PC is connected to internet!!! Click on ftp icon (if there is one, otherwise see below) A window will appear asking for host, user name and password. Type in gsbmba.uchicago.edu as the host and your name and password for GSBMBA [If your PC does not have a ftp icon, click the ``start'', then type ftp gsbmba.uchicago.edu] You may then drag the file you wish to copy from one computer to the other. I shall demonstrate ftp in class.
