| We shall discuss some results on the fundamental group of the complement of a complex projective plane algebraic curve. An algebraic curve is a real surface with singularities, and its complement is an open 4-manifold. It is known that the fundamental group of this open 4-manifold is a homomorphic image of the fundamental group of the boundary 3-manifold of the curve. We shall discuss some known results, do some calculations, and ask some questions. |
